Storm the State House in Vermont

Vermont's Second Annual Storm the State House

The Most Important Motorcycle Event of the Year...Thursday, May 1, 2008.

We hope to hold the 2nd Annual Storm The State House on May 1, 2008. Check back here for updated information or register and log in and discuss it in the forum.

Last year we had the first Storm The Statehouse. The "Storm" went great. About a dozen Politically Active Motorcyclists showed up. We met a lot of our Senators and Representatives and discussed motorcycle safety, education and freedom of choice. As soon as we I Ride and I Vote - Storm the State Houseentered the building, we ran into Rich Westman, chariman of the Transportation Committee. He offered to put a meeting together with us and the committee within the hour. I wasn't able to stay for that meeting, it was delayed for a roll call vote and I had to get back to work.

Meeting with our elected officials went very well, we had facts and numbers to answer and conter every question and objection.

We'll be Storming the State House again in 2008 and hope to see you there.

Freedom of Choice

Vermont's Motorcycle Helmet Reform Bill Stuck on the Wall by Transportation Committee

Vermont - support helmet freedom of choice

Vermont's Legislative started in January. It's time to start talking to your Representatives and Senators and letting them know that you ride and you vote. We'll post more info when it gets closer, but it would sure help if motorcyclists would go the Statehouse when the legislature is in session and walk around introducing yourself and meeting with our elected officials.

"We get the government we deserve."

During the last session, Rep. John Rodgers introduced House Resolution H.0064 Motorcycle Helmets. If this bill passes motorcyclists with 1 year or more riding experience (motorcycle endorsement) and 21 years of age or olde will be free to choose whether or not to wear a helmet. Unfortunately this bill is stuck on the wall in the transportation committee's meeting room and will die there unless enough of us let them know that we want reform, we want the freedom to choose.

Vermont is a beautiful state to ride in and to visit. While we're getting our information together to support this bill, you can visit the state's Web site for contact information and let them know that you want the freedom to choose and that you would be more likely to visit Vermont (and spend money here) if you had that right.

Please remember to be polite and postive when you contact our state legislators and officials. Not everyone uses email and real letters and postcards or phone calls are more effective.

Politically Active Motorcyclist Phone Tree
motorcycle rights phone treeAt a recent meeting it was decided to put together a phone tree and email list to help fulfill our mission as a Motorcycle Rights Organization. To be effective as a political organization we need to show our elected officials that we care about our rights and are watching what they do. The phone tree and email list will help us get the word out on important issues fast.

Flooding our elected officials with timely and informative messages will definitely let them know that we are serious and that they can't ignore us any longer. If you haven't registered on our site or joined our organization yet, please do so now.

We're fighting for your rights and we need your help.
